Christmas Gifts for Camping Families
A useful Christmas present earns its place on the next trip. For an outdoorsy family, that might be a flask that holds enough for everyone, a pair of chairs for the campsite or a pan set that fits the car. Start with something they already enjoy doing together.
For family walks and a hot drink afterwards
The ERM vacuum flask comes in 600 ml, 800 ml, 1 litre and 1.5 litre sizes. Think about how many drinks the family usually pours. Four 200 ml servings need 800 ml before allowing any extra. A larger flask also adds weight when full, so choose for the person carrying it.
A set of three nesting mugs takes up less space than three loose mugs. The sizes differ—250, 350 and 550 ml—so this is not a set of identical cups. Count everyone who needs a drink, and keep hot drinks and hot metal cups under adult control.
For parents who carry the spare clothes
A roll-top dry bag can separate dry socks and jumpers from damp outer layers. Choose its capacity around the actual bundle of clothing. The 2 litre option has no shoulder strap; the larger options have different carrying arrangements. It is not a flotation aid.
If their current backpack is too small, compare the 30 litre backpack with rain cover with the bag they already use. Fit matters as much as capacity. An adult pack should not be assumed to fit a child.
For slower mornings at camp
The TARKA folding chair pair gives two people a place to sit. Check the seat dimensions and packed size before choosing; a low camping chair may not suit someone who finds getting up difficult.
For a higher-backed option, look at the Naturehike high-back moon chair. Check the selected size and current availability. A chair is a better gift when it suits the recipient’s usual sitting position than when it simply looks impressive in a photograph.
For the person who cooks breakfast outside
The Widesea nesting cookware has three configurations; only Set 3 includes the pictured kettle. Match the set to the meals they actually cook and the stove they already own.
The eight-piece stainless steel set contains two pots, a frying pan, two cups and three plates. A family of four would still need extra drinking and eating pieces. Stove and fuel are separate. Fuel-burning stoves belong outdoors, never inside a tent, enclosed awning or vehicle.
A bigger present to choose together
A family tent, camping mattress or large table is worth discussing before wrapping. Measure the sleeping mats, the available boot space and the place it will be stored at home. Our family tent guide explains the checks, and the premium camping collection brings together larger tents, sleep equipment and furniture.
Buying at Christmas does not make equipment suitable for winter camping. Choose the season and conditions using the manufacturer’s guidance and verified ratings.
Before you choose
- Ask what they already own and what makes packing awkward.
- Check the exact variant, contents and dimensions.
- Keep the order details so the recipient can identify their equipment.
- For an outing planned around Christmas, read the current delivery information and product details before ordering.
